The answer to all your skin problems….

300

Aloe Vera gel has been used since ancient times(most famously by Cleopatra) to treat a variety of skin problems due to its healing, anti bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Consistency: Aloe vera Gel has a medium to thick consistency.

Application: It is best to apply aloe vera gel with your clean fingers. Its consistency makes it easy to control and spread with your fingers, without you having to worry about it running everywhere.

One of the things I really love about aloe vera gel is that it is clear.  Many drugstore and premium spot treatments on the market claim to be clear but, they leave a residue on your face which makes them obvious.  This means that you can apply aloe vera gel during the day to your face and no one will notice. As aloe vera gel doesn’t leave a residue, you can even apply makeup over the top of it once it has dried.

Blemishes: Aloe vera gel is the most effective treatment I have used against blemishes due to its antibacterial and ant-inflammatory properties . A few hours after you apply the gel you can already see the difference with redness and swelling reducing. Aloe vera gel is even effective against those big cystic spots, as well as the smaller ones. What I love about aloe vera gel is that as it is moisturising it doesn’t dry the skin out around the spot, so you can still apply makeup to it without it looking flaky.

Other uses: Below are only some of the many uses of aloe vera gel.

1. Moisturiser (although it can be drying on some people’s skin) for both skin and hair.

2. Skin Brightener -fades acne scars, and discolorations.

3. Anti- oxidants reduce the signs of ageing.

4. Can be applied to rashes, eczema, insect bites and other skin inflammation.

5. After sun lotion to treat sunburns.

6. Applied after hair removal to prevent ingrown hairs.

7. It can also be used in hair to prevent dandruff, hair thinning and scalp dryness.

Price: Pure Aloe Vera Gel(99%) is usually priced around £6. It is available from all good health food stores. You can even pick it up online for slightly cheaper.

Brands: I personally prefer Mill Creek Botanicals 99% Aloe Vera Gel, as it can be used under makeup without leaving any kind of residue.  It is also free of fragrances and parabens which often irritate the skin. However, there are so many other good brands out their like Aloe Pura. It important you make sure the gel you buy contains at least 99% pure aloe vera.

Packaging: Aloe Vera Gel comes in a tube with a screw on lid. This makes it easy to take with you when travelling. Due to the gels thick consistency it is easy to control how much you extract from the tube, without it getting messy.

Overall: Aloe Vera is an indispensible product that has many uses for the whole family, and has become a staple in my bathroom cabinet.
